Sandina Bailo: Combining Photography and Block Printing

I was delighted to be featured this month in a local neighborhood magazine here in Napa for my artwork. I’d like to thank Linda Ross at Napa Spotlight Magazine for doing such a wonderful job of telling my story and highlighting some of my artwork.

You can read the article below and you’ll find links to the pieces that Linda talks about further down this page.

Sandina Bailo Combining Photograhy and Block Printing

“Sandina Bailo studied both photography and filmmaking at Brooks Institute of Photography and San Francisco State University before working for many years in the motion picture industry. With the opportunity to travel throughout the past decade, Bailo built up a collection of memorable photographs. Inspired by graffiti street art in Europe, she adds texture and dimension to her photography by combining her photographs with hand-carved block prints.

The process Bailo uses to create her unique pieces is intricate and thoughtful, as she describes in detail on her website. Her works creates “a sanctuary from the fractured and divided world that we live in. They provide an opportunity to be transported to another place, one where there is calmness and serenity, where the viewer can feel grounded.” Her pictures tell a story and draw the onlooker in through great details and designs.”
